Unstable state of security in Lebanon

RCPL is concerned by the recent events in Lebanon which emphasize the need to demilitarize the entire country. The recent events include:

-

bomb on a Dutch missionary on May 7 in Tripoli, killing 1 person

-

attempted assassination of the American Ambassador in April in Tripoli (North Lebanon)

-

bomb on McDonald's restaurant in March in Beirut

-

bomb on the British Cultural Center in March in Tripoli (North Lebanon)

-

assassination of an American missionary nurse last November in Sidon (South Lebanon)

These events remind us of the fragile state of security in Lebanon, and the importance for the Lebanese government to disarm all non-governmental groups and movements in Lebanon, including the Palestinian refugee camps, Osbat Al Ansar and Hizbullah.
